i spent a lot of time with my parents this weekend. here is a list of all of the things my mom(of mmiaf fame) likes to say to me. i tried my hardest to get this down to at top 5, but i couldnt so you get a freebie. without further adieu:

dogs already know how to do that, so they dont have to say as long.

its snow & santa ninja time

brr is cold. wtf california? i didnt sign up for this. seeing snow on my morning commute? where am i? boston?

tis the season i guess. the season of high pg&e bills, going over budget on smallspend, christmas trees, crowded malls, snowboarding, hot cocoa, and most importantly, tis the season of giving.

i would do the unfun things in life more often if they were fun. heres a few examples:

• work out
• eat healthier
• take out the trash

you make working out fun like playing basketball all the time? id do it twice a day. you make boring salads taste like delicious cheeseburgers? id eat more greens. you make taking out the trash like playing a video game? id take out the trash every 2 hours.

ive really noticed that this fun factor really drives kids. when i was teaching tennis, id have to make the boring part of practice (picking up all of the tennis balls after they had hit them all over the courts) a fun game. red light green light worked well. bribing them with popsicles also worked well.

from the video, it looks like the fun factor affects all ages. everyone likes a little fun.

i must like being told what to do.

ive been on p90x for about 3 weeks now, and i love it. not so much the exercise part of it per se (although it does kick a lot of ass), but more the daily routine.

every day, i pop in a dvd, and tony horton yells at me for about an hour. i dont have to think about whether or not i should be doing cardio vs resistance training, what part of the body i have to work out, etc. i just have to follow the schedule, and mimic (poorly) tonys movements on the dvd. i rest when its a rest day, work out when its a work out day. it has been both the toughest and easiest workout routine ive ever done.

its mainly because i dont really have a passion for working out. i do it because i sit in front of a computer all day. i do it because i need exercise. okay okay, i do it so my mom will hopefully stop calling me a fatty. the point is, it doesnt really matter if im runing, biking, precor-ing… whatever. to me, its all just moving around until i sweat profusely. having someone tell me what to do when i dont really care about doing it is nice.

im goign to try to apply this same routine to my meals – especially lunch. it’ll probably work because i also dont really care what i eat. one summer, i ate nothing but chicken and heads of lettuce. sometimes, when im too busy, ill even forget to eat. thats when this eating schedule will come in handy.

hopefully, if something tells me what to bring for lunch, ill bring it. no more boring peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

sorry for the infrequent posts and t shirts. been busy with a few things – helping the lady move to philly, doing the whole long distance thing.

you think i’d be super bummerfied. i mean, i am kind of bummerfied, but not super bummerfied. (lady, if you are reading this, i am super super bummerfied). the reason behind this is two-fold.

1. 1. a fellow golden bear moved in and now we have lots of video game playing time and sportscenter on.
2. 2. cal football season is starting.

its no secret that i am a big california golden bears football fan. i think we can be a special team this year. so special that there are actually new angry ninja cal football t shirts out! i know. im like a phoenix rising from its ashes.

kevin riley, please dont eff this up like oregon state 2007. tedford (and agnry ninja) would be displeased.

and as always, go bears.

back from cabo. no swine flu (i hope)

back from mexico and i dont think i have swine flu. i do have a tan though. and about 10 mosquito bites.  and sand in all sorts of weird places.

we stayed at the westin for 6 days. always sign up for the royal beach club when you stay there. free breakfast, but more importantly, free drinks in the evening! i like pina coladas.

here is the view from the room. there are 7 pools.

here is the famous arch in cabo. the rock formations are really cool. i definitely recommend taking a glass bottom boat tour. the tour guide will try to charge you $20. we got the price down to $8.

here is some of the food we ate. you should always eat oysters at restaurants with gold signs.

now people are always saying,

dont drink the water in mexico! only get bottled water! dont even get ice in your drinks! youll get the muddbutt like in sex in the city!

whatever. nobody had any problems with that (that im aware of). but then again, we were staying at a resort town. they probably filter everything.

all in all, it was an awesome vacation, a perfect blend of eating, drinking, beaching, exploring, getting losting, adventuring, and doing nothing. im probably going to forgo mexican food for at least a week though.

no more chips and salsa por favor.

still getting hassled by the po po

just the other week, i was over at smallchou’s place for a bbq. it was saturday on memorial day weekend. we got the police called on us.

now this might have been for a variety of reasons:

1. they thought askskratch was dead because he was passed out and not moving. (which he did and wasnt)
2. they thought i was pregnant and about to have a food baby (which i was and did the next morning)
3. they wanted to come watch yanting dominate at beer pong. (which she killed at)

regardless, they came to tell us to shut our faces. aparrently one of the neighbors had some things to say about our joyous outbursts – as in, tell those kids to shut up!

haters.

so everyone, when you are out and about celebrating all sorts of joyous occasions this summer, bumping your lady gaga, be wary of the police ninja. they break up parties. and possibly your face if you give them too much lip.

netflix… ive missed you and your awesomeness.

just got this email from netflix. what awesome customer service.

heres my customer service experience with blockbuster all access:

me:  i was looking at my credit card statement and it looks like my subscription went from $9.99 to $11.99. I also tried to exchange my DVDs in store recently but the cashier told me that i had used up all my exchanges for the month. when i signed up, i had unlimited in store exchanges.
cs: yes.
me: um so you increased the price and limited my in store exchanges without my approval?
cs: yes.

that my dear reader, is what we call a bait and switch. and the reason i cancelled blockbuster and went back to netflix.

moral of the story – dont give your money to businesses with shady customer acquisiton tactics  like blockbuster. assholes.
