every once in a while, i come across something amazing that i have to share with the angry ninja world.

im a little bit of a gadget freak, so i do work on/use multiple computers. and there was never a great way to sync up all of the stuff that i was working on. over the years, i concocted many ways to make sure i had the latest files on hand:

• ftp: logging in and out was always a pain. and then my home computer had to be on all the time.
• network folder: mapping drives also worked for a while, but then there was no way for me to access my files while i wasnt on my home network.
• email: having a bunch of emails with attachments is annoying. also, what if i forgot to email myself the latest file?

so there was never a perfect solution. thats when i discovered dropbox.

you install the software on the computers you use and it creates folder on each. anything that you put into the folders is automatically synced up across all folders. there is a pictures folder for you to share all of your pictures with all of yoru fiends (finally, no excuse for not emailing those vacation photos), and there is a public folder for you to share files with your friends.

basically, now i have access to all of my recent files, no matter where i am. ive found myself working on designs and listening to my latest mp3s  in the bedroom on the macbook, on my desktop at work, at my friend’s, or even my parent’s place.  the best thing: it works on mac and on windows. it will change the way you work on your computers. guaranteed.

shepherds pie – easy irish comfort food

as i alluded to in my previous post, this weekend, i made shepherds pie. it was fantastic and easy to make. learn how to cook with angry ninja! heres how:

prep time: approx 45 minutes.

ingredients:

• 1.5 lb lean ground beef
• 1 red or yellow onion (diced)
• 4 white mushrooms (sliced)
• worcestershire seasoning
• a little bit of milk/cream
• 4 medium – large potatoes
• i bunch cilantro
• 1 egg
• salt, pepper, seasoning salt, butter

directions:

• peel and quarter the potatoes and dump them into boiling water.
• saute onions with 1-2 tbs of oil, when done, add the ground beef and brown.
• season meat and onion with worcestershire seasoning , salt, pepper, and seasoning salt. you can add a little bit of soy sauce or tomato sauce for taste.
• when meat is almost browned, add in the mushrooms and cilantro. finish and set aside. set oven to preheat at 350
• by this time, your potatoes should be ready for mashing. mash with butter milk/cream and salt to taste.
• scoop your meat skillet into a casserole dish or brownie tin.
• top and spread mashed potatoes on top of the meat layer.
• crack open and egg and brush it over the mashed potato layer
• pop casserole dish/brownie tin into the oven for 30 minutes.

are you a cal football fan? do you have an iphone? are you sick of looking at a crappy wallpaper ever time you use your phone? if so, then angry ninja has got your back!

you see, i too, was sick of not having an awesome cal football wallpaper to put on my phone, so i took matters into my own hands and made my own. now you really have no excuses for having that globe/ girlfriend/boyfriend/pet/first born son or any other wallpaper on your iphone anymore.

i also have the cal fight song ringtone if anyone is interested. gotta go all out for football season.

awesome olympics video

in the name of olympic spirit, this video has appeared in my inbox (both work and personal) multiple times over the last few days. and each time i get it i have to watch it again. twice. it is that awesome.

what a bridal bazzar

that was quite a weekend. for those of you who couldnt read between the lines,  i was in vegas for a bachelor party, i mean bridal bazzar. good times all around. heres a mini recap of some of the events. dont worry. this post is sfw:

del friscos

after landing in beautiful las vegas, the first thing we did was head out to del friscos. you might have not heard of this joint before, but our cabbie said that it was the best steakhouse in all of vegas. now i havent eaten at all the steakhouses in vegas, so i cant give a real comparison, but it really was one of the best steaks ive had.

venetian

we stayed at the venetian. now im not sure if this is normal, but that hotel smells really weird. i was told that each of the hotels purposely have a distinct smell piped in – im just not sure why the venetians smell had to be vanilla funk. the suites were really nice and large, so we werent tripping all over each other. one weird thing – it is impossible to get anywhere in that hotel without going through a maze of elevators/hallways. this makes it hard to navigate at 6 in the morning. especially when youre stuck in an elevator with strangers.

pai gow poker

out of all the times ive been to vegas, i had yet to find a game i really enjoyed. my friends all enjoy blackjack (game goes too fast), poker (requires too much thinking), and roulette (holy moley, im not even going to get into this one) to some degree, but ive never really found a game that i really felt comfortable playing. until pai gow poker. its especially awesome when you get a kick ass dealer that does things like this:

friend shows hand
dealer (while slapping friends hand): are you serious?! what did i say?! 6 or higher, you split!
friend: oh i forgot.
dealer (grabs one of his $5 chips): if you win this hand, you give me this chip. if you lose this hand, ill give you it back.

now imagine that going on for the entire 3 hours we sat at the table. awesome

overall, it was definitely a great experience. we went with a group of solid guys and had just enough events planned so that we werent bored at any time of the day. it was nice to spend some time with the bachelor, who ive known for 19 years. mike, youve always been the older brother i never had, and i know you expressed some interest in angry ninja t shirts, so this ones for you. your lady is lucky to have such a stand-up guy.

ps. it feels great to not have to share a bed with another dude anymore.

san diego. an angry ninja adventure.

san diego was quite a trip. short and sweet, but jam packed with awesomeness. the brain is not working too well right now, so im going with a running list:

big ups to everyone packing their angry ninja shirts for this trip. above are some of the shirts spotted during our time there. i even got complimented on some of them while riding the omni (great hotel btw) elevator:

food

id say that 70% to 75% of the trip was spent either, going to a place to eat, eating at said place, and deciding what to eat next. i didnt get to capture all of the food consumption, so here are a few highlights.

sushi deli:

whats that i see on the menu? ninja roll? what are you reading right now? angry ninja? so yeah, i ordered it. i mean, how could i not? it was like fate.

here is the roll itself. it was delicious. id order it every time if i could.

and as if regular meals werent enough, we also had desserts. not just any desserts mind you, but extraordinary desserts.

now, the menu might have called the above two cakes “lemon” and “strawberry short,” but i call them diabetes. my heart almost jumped out of my chest.

all in all, id say its pretty realistic that i gained a good 4 pounds in 4 days. might not be a personal record (youd have to have known me during my potato diet phase), but still not too shabby.

rock band

if we spent 70% – 75% of the time eating, we must have spent at least a good 20% of the time playing rock band. its a pretty fun game, and i got to sing a lot.

actually, im not sure if “sing” is the right word. why you ask? well this is one of the sings i “sang”

pinkberry vs red mango

ate pinkberry. pretty tasty. not as good as red mango. why? lets count the reasons:

• yogurt tastes faker (artificially sweetened)
• original tart is not very tart
• fruit (mango) is not as fresh/delicious

dont get me wrong, its pretty good. ill gladly eat it. its just no red mango. end of story. time to move on.

virgin america flights

this airline is awesome. especially if you hate flying like i do. what makes it so awesome? the entertainment system located on the back of every single headrest. here are a few things that i did on my relatively short flight (sorry for the blurry shots, i was taking these during the “please turn all of your electronic devices off” stage of the flight):

played doom – pew pew pew

arranged and listened to a personal playlist from their library of music – boom boom boom

watched espn – go fight win

video games, tv and music – three of this sites categories, all in one flight. awesome. only way it could have been more perfect is if had an on board t shirt making factory.

friends

so whats the lesson that we can all take away from this? yes, its fun to go places and take trips. its fun to hang out with friends and eat stuff/play video games with them. but its so much more awesomer if you actually go on trips with your friends and people you care about to eat stuff/play video games/hang out.

also, when youre booking flights back, its probably best to book an afternoon flight, especially if you have to be in at work at 7 in the morning the next day.

damn is golf always this awesome?!

i am not an avid golfer/follower of golf by any stretch of the imagination, so please excuse me if i sound a bit ignorant, but damn, is golf always this awesome?!

there i was, sitting on the couch, completely stressing out hoping that tiger would catch rocco. the late earl woods commercial was unveiled, tiger was basically playing on one leg, behind a stroke and completely missing the fairway on the last few holes, yet here we are monday, with an 18 hole playoff.

rocco is wearing red today. isnt that to be tigers color? he must be trying to play mind games. he must not have seen the earl woods commercial.

now this is awesome. the famous konami code has shown up in google reader. you can grab the angry ninja feed to enjoy in your own rss reader here.

what is the konami code you ask? for those of you (me included) that coudlnt beat contra back in the day, there was a special code, the konami code, that you could input that gave you 30 lives, making the game much more manageable.
