now this might have been for a variety of reasons:

1. they thought askskratch was dead because he was passed out and not moving. (which he did and wasnt)
2. they thought i was pregnant and about to have a food baby (which i was and did the next morning)
3. they wanted to come watch yanting dominate at beer pong. (which she killed at)

regardless, they came to tell us to shut our faces. aparrently one of the neighbors had some things to say about our joyous outbursts – as in, tell those kids to shut up!

haters.

so everyone, when you are out and about celebrating all sorts of joyous occasions this summer, bumping your lady gaga, be wary of the police ninja. they break up parties. and possibly your face if you give them too much lip.

thursday night

1. after dropping off the lady at the airport, went to fu lam mum for their late night dim sum. four shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, and three custard buns later, i am stuffed. and its also 12 oclock. way past my bedtime for a weeknight.

friday night

1. tgi fridays is one happening place. what makes it so? happy hour from 10 pm to 12 am. half off beers and appetizers == super full. also super sleepy. always get the sesame jack chicken.

saturday

1. the day was spent hanging out with my cousin, helping my dad repair the deck (made me feel manly) in the backyard, watching burn after reading, making shepherds pie (recipe to follow later – so delicious), and going out to bjs for appetizers and drinks. i think i just described enough activities for an entire weekend right there.

1. 49ers tailgate! 49ers win! whoo! 10 am – 5:30 pm was spent in beautiful candlestick park.

food

id say that 70% to 75% of the trip was spent either, going to a place to eat, eating at said place, and deciding what to eat next. i didnt get to capture all of the food consumption, so here are a few highlights.

sushi deli:

whats that i see on the menu? ninja roll? what are you reading right now? angry ninja? so yeah, i ordered it. i mean, how could i not? it was like fate.

here is the roll itself. it was delicious. id order it every time if i could.

and as if regular meals werent enough, we also had desserts. not just any desserts mind you, but extraordinary desserts.

now, the menu might have called the above two cakes “lemon” and “strawberry short,” but i call them diabetes. my heart almost jumped out of my chest.

all in all, id say its pretty realistic that i gained a good 4 pounds in 4 days. might not be a personal record (youd have to have known me during my potato diet phase), but still not too shabby.

rock band

if we spent 70% – 75% of the time eating, we must have spent at least a good 20% of the time playing rock band. its a pretty fun game, and i got to sing a lot.

actually, im not sure if “sing” is the right word. why you ask? well this is one of the sings i “sang”

yes, the lead singer is supposed to be a woman.

pinkberry vs red mango

ate pinkberry. pretty tasty. not as good as red mango. why? lets count the reasons:

• yogurt tastes faker (artificially sweetened)
• original tart is not very tart
• fruit (mango) is not as fresh/delicious

dont get me wrong, its pretty good. ill gladly eat it. its just no red mango. end of story. time to move on.

virgin america flights

this airline is awesome. especially if you hate flying like i do. what makes it so awesome? the entertainment system located on the back of every single headrest. here are a few things that i did on my relatively short flight (sorry for the blurry shots, i was taking these during the “please turn all of your electronic devices off” stage of the flight):

played doom – pew pew pew

arranged and listened to a personal playlist from their library of music – boom boom boom

watched espn – go fight win

video games, tv and music – three of this sites categories, all in one flight. awesome. only way it could have been more perfect is if had an on board t shirt making factory.

friends

so whats the lesson that we can all take away from this? yes, its fun to go places and take trips. its fun to hang out with friends and eat stuff/play video games with them. but its so much more awesomer if you actually go on trips with your friends and people you care about to eat stuff/play video games/hang out.

also, when youre booking flights back, its probably best to book an afternoon flight, especially if you have to be in at work at 7 in the morning the next day.

you can fill in the blank yourselves. “the bomb” and “explosive” both work. so does “blowin up!”

yes, this extended fourth of july weekend, i will be in sunny san diego – bbqing, beaching, carne asada-ing, and whatever-else-they-do-down-in-san diego-ing. its going to be awesome. apparently, there is a lot of food that i have to eat while im down there.

last head count, there were about 12 or so northern californians temporarily transplanting themselves down there for the weekend. any time that happens, adventures are bound to happen. also expect an inappropriate number of instances of the word “hella.”

ps. i know i semi wrote about this design yesterday, but i wanted to give it a proper unveiling. after all, it is an exploding ninja head.

happy fourth of july everyone!

now beer an i have a long history – actually, i guess not that long since im only 26. i used to hate it. i couldnt stand the stuff and thought,

why the heck would anybody drink this? this tastes like somebodys foot after a intense session of basketball.

well, this definitely isnt the case anymore, and ive got coors light to thank for it. why coors light you ask? because its probably the beer that tastes the least like beer. it really is quite refreshing, mainly because it tastes more like water than beer. like some sort of wonderous water-beer.

now some of you may feel like im knocking coors light. this is not the case. i get beerzookas of it at old pro, and on a long hot summers day, while standing around a bbq, theres no other refreshment id rather have in my hands than some ice cold silver bullets.

how can you tell its ice-cold? the mountains on the label turn blue:

so to coors light, this t shirts for you. thank you for turning me onto the world of beer. code blue time is coors light time. heck, any time could be coors light time.

have a great weekend. and if youre going to drink coors light or any other fun beverages, do it responsibly. it might take a couple to get you started, so get a ride. or walk.

bbqs are also always nice because afterwards you smell like smoke and bbq, making the dog and lady go crazy (dog – good crazy. lady – bad crazy). plus, i dont know if there is a better way to spend a saturday than hanging out with good friends, eating good food, tossing a football around and knocking back a few beers.
