being a guy - venting

the lady recently had a lengthy phone conversation with one of her lady friends about problems that ladies go through. this was on the phone. for two hours. if im going to be the phone for two hours, i better be doing one of the following:

• on hold waiting for customer service for some sort of gizmo/toy.
• on hold waiting for sports tickets.
• both parties on the phone fell asleep in midst of a conversation (actually happened).

this would never happen in real life. ladies, let this be a lesson to you: guys do not get together and “vent.” at least, we dont openly say that we are venting. if i need to talk to one of my guy friends, im going to thinly veil it as a manly activity such as:

• hey man. want to go hit a bucket of golf balls?
• come over and play some video games
• i just got this huge tv. come watch espn on it!
• want to go shoot cans in the backyard with the bb gun?
• were grilling. bring the meat.
• lets go play some baseball.

weekend is right around the corner and ive got a busy one: bbq, engagement party, and sunday brunch. and at least two of these events, im going to be drinking beer, quite possibly coors light.

now beer an i have a long history - actually, i guess not that long since im only 26. i used to hate it. i couldnt stand the stuff and thought,

why the heck would anybody drink this? this tastes like somebodys foot after a intense session of basketball.

well, this definitely isnt the case anymore, and ive got coors light to thank for it. why coors light you ask? because its probably the beer that tastes the least like beer. it really is quite refreshing, mainly because it tastes more like water than beer. like some sort of wonderous water-beer.

now some of you may feel like im knocking coors light. this is not the case. i get beerzookas of it at old pro, and on a long hot summers day, while standing around a bbq, theres no other refreshment id rather have in my hands than some ice cold silver bullets.

sometimes things were way better back in the day

celtics vs lakers in the nba finals is starting today. now, i have very fond memories of the nba finals, as they were some of my earliest memories with basketball. i really hope the series lives up to the hype.

back in the day, once i heard the nba on nbc opening song, i knew it was on like donkey kong. id get so pumped/psyched id have goosebumps and start pacing around my living room, driving my parents nuts. man that opening back in the day was awesome.

these days, the finals are broadcast on abc, and their opening is well, definitely not as spectacular.
