what are they doing in cal football practice?

i can understand once, but twice? in a span of two weeks? what are they teaching at cal football practice? you have to make it into the endzone with the football in order to score a touchdown.

first, on monday night football two weeks ago, you have desean jackon, cal alum, flipping the ball behind him before he scores in order to prepare for a touchdown dance.

then, yesterday, you have bryant nnabuife clearly flipping the ball over his shoulder before hes in. luckily, the touchdown stood and the announcers refused to acknowledge the possibility of this happening.

so far, i have not been impressed this season. and as you can see, gookie’s dog, bagel feels the same way. jeff tedford, you better get on this epidemic.

the one, the only, punt returner/wide receiver extraordinaire desean jackson! i cant ever remember another time a cal athlete has graced a cover of a video game. has it ever happened before?

i guess ea must have been listening to kirk herbstreit when he said:

this is ea sports video game stuff… hits r1 and bounces to the outside

in the clip below. i have to admire kirk for even knowing the juke/sidestep button on the ps controller. maybe hes a video game dork like me.

ive already written about my feelings for the current state of cal football (and atheltics in general), but seeing desean on the cover of a major video game definitely puts a smile on my face, despite the crazy season cal fans just went through.

desean, best of luck to you in philly. i look forward to playing as you and the rest of my cal bears in ncaa 2009 dynasty mode, where i will virtually wipe this disastrous season from my mind.
